Mixbus loads a wide range of third-party plugins that might be installed on your computer. There are 3 ways to initiate a plugin scan:

  • When you first open the Plugin Selector dialog (by double-clicking in the black plugin-area of a channel)
  • Via the “Scan Now” button in Preferences->Plugins
  • From the Plugin Manager window

When a Scan is initiated, the Plugin Scan Dialog appears:

When each plugin is scanned, the dialog reports the filename of the plugin, and a scan-time progress bar.

There are 3 buttons provided to change the scan behavior:

  • Skip This Plugin : if a plugin is taking a long time to scan, and/or requires a license or other user input that you cannot fulfill, you can click this button to skip the plugin. The plugin will not be available in the Plugin Selector or other menus in Mixbus. It will be shown in the Plugin Manager window, and can be re-scanned from there.
  • Auto-Skip Unresponsive plugins: click this button to initiate a “untended” scan session. This allows you to leave Mixbus while it scans, and Mixbus will automatically skip any plugin that takes longer than 15 seconds to complete (this value can be changed in Preferences->Plugins). Plugins that are auto-skipped can be re-scanned from the Plugin Manager window, at your convenience.
  • Abort Scanning (for all plugins) : this button will abort the scan completely. Plugins that were scanned prior to clicking the button will be available. But any plugins that were not yet scanned will not appear in the Plugin Manager or the Plugin Selector windows.
