Video demo of Cue Markers
What are Cue Markers?
Cue Markers are markers in the timeline ruler, just like regular location markers.
When the playhead reaches a cue marker, it will trigger the corrensponding Cue, just as if you clicked on a Cue manually.
Cue Marker Controls: Record and Play
At the top of the Mixbus window beside the mini- timeline are the Record Cues and Play Cues buttons:
Play Cues button: This button enables playback of clips when triggered by cue markers on the session timeline. If not set, Cue Markers will not trigger clip playback when the playhead passes over the marker position.
Rec Cues button: This button enables recording of Cue Markers onto the session timeline when triggered manually from the Cue page.
Triggering Cues on the timeline using Cue Markers
It is not necessary to record cues in real time while listening to playback. Cues can be placed directly on the timeline at the desired point in the Editor Window using the Cue Markers lane:
The Cue Marker will be placed at the selected point:
In this case, Cue Marker A will trigger clip playback when the playhead passes over the marker.
Similarly, clip playback can be stopped by right-clicking and selecting the stop button at the desired point:
The Stop button will be placed at the selected point:
Clip playback of all cues will stop when the playhead passes over the marker.
Tweaking the Cue Trigger and Stop Positions
In the Editor Window, you can move the time positions of the Cue start and stop by simply clicking and dragging them along the timeline:
By Right Clicking on the Cue or Stop marker, a number of additional options are provided such as changing the cue, moving the play head to the cue, moving the cue to the play head, locking the cue position to the beat reference, and so on:
