Follow Options Panel

Follow Options are triggered automatically when the clip reaches its end. The Follow Options section has these controls:

Follow Options (Left and Right, respectively): The 2 Follow Action menus may have one of these choices selected:

  • Inhibit – If None is selected, then the Follow Options items are disabled throughout this section. The settings are preserved in case you want to re-enable FA’s later.
  • Stop – After the clip finishes (Follow Count and Follow Length are taken into account), the clip will stop playing but no other action will occur.
  • Again – The same clip (taking Follow Count and Follow Length into account) will be repeated again (i.e. looped)
  • Forward – playback will advance to the next (lower) clip in the track’s grid. Empty slots are skipped over.
  • Reverse – playback will revert to the prior (higher) clip in the track’s grid. Empty slots are skipped over.
  • Jump – playback jumps to the selected slot(s).

The Follow-Option Probability slider assigns a probability (0..100%) between the Left and Right follow options. This allows you to make a semi-random arrangement where the clip ‘usually’ repeats but ‘sometimes’ jumps to a different clip.

Follow Count defines the number of times that a clip will repeat before the Follow Option is engaged. For example you can cause a 1-bar clip to repeat 3 bars, and then Jump to another clip (as a fill).

The Follow Length selection defines a number of beats that the clip will play, before the Follow Option is initiated. This number can be longer or shorter than the natural clip length. For example you might choose to Jump to another clip after only 2 bars of a 4-bar clip have played. Or alternatively you might allow a silent section to follow a 4-bar clip by setting the Follow Length to 8 bars. The Follow Length may be engaged or disengaged while remembering its setting.
